Convert images into icons
Imagine if you could turn your photos into icons - instead of generic looking photo album folders you could have your favorite photos to represent the album as an icon.
Img2icns is a conversion tool that can help you do this, whether you're a general user looking to add a touch of class to your desktop or a developer wanting to polish your software with good looking icons. Img2icns couldn't be simpler - just drag and drop the photos you want to turn into icons into the interface, select a conversion format, and click convert.
Unfortunately, some of the more advanced features, such as export iPhones icons and Favicons are only available in the Pro Edition which you have to pay for. However, for making simple icons, it couldn't be a more simple or straightforward tool although it would be nice to be able to select what size of Icon you want to create.
Ultimately, Img2icns is just an glorified photo resizing tool although it's well designed, easy to use and perfect for anyone looking to make the odd icon.

This is a nice little utility and you can't really beat free. It needs to be noted though that it is a very old application from 2009 and that the software publisher has a newer application called Image2icon which is listed in the Mac App store. if you like this program and find it someday does not work in a new version of Mac OS, you're going to have to switch. This is verifiable as if you use the About img2icns in the Apple menu from this application and click the url listed there, it will take you to the web page for the new application where it will link you to the download page in the Mac App Store. Can't imagine doing my art without it. Coming from a Windows which showed what was in the folder by using an actual photo of the contents -- to a Mac that shows only the blue folder, it was impossible to have a comfortable workflow without Img2icns. I use it daily to show what folder has what image. It's quick & easy to use. More
